How Scentwork can benefit your dog.

Here at SkellyWags you may have noticed we put a lot of energy into telling anybody that will listen about the benefits of scent work for our pet dogs. scent work is used in lots of our 1-2-1 consults, puppy and life-skills classes and obviously our scent work courses.

Why is scent work so good for your dogs?

There are multiple uses and benefits of scent work. Sniffing for example, releases happy endorphins, stimulates the dogs mentally, reduces anxiety and stress. It is also fun, any dog can do it and it gives them a job.

Below is a recent review from Maria who was concerned if her dog would be okay in the class environment and whether it would benefit her lovely dog.

Layla my swiss shepherd has reaction issues so I decided to try a six week sniffer training course. With Mark’s help we saw a great improvement over the weeks. She became more relaxed around other dogs and able to focus on the tasks set. Thank you Mark for all the advice you gave. Can’t wait to start the next course in January.

We work with lots of space as for any dog with anxiety around other dogs space is the key starting point. Layla was a superstar as was Maria, it is not easy for dogs with big emotions and even harder for owners, but these guys did an amazing job. Well done Maria and Layla.
