Why Dogs Love Learning at SkellyWags.
- Purpose built Scent Shed
- Secure training field
- Meadow pathways for calm learning
- Small supportive classes
- Positive reinforcement methods
- Dogs treated as individuals
As the principle trainer at SkellyWags when I’m not teaching Scentwork, Puppy Classes, or running 1-1 dog training or other classes, you’ll probably find me geeking out over dog behaviour, writing something silly about Bert’s latest antics, or planning new ways to make training fun, rewarding and meaningful for every dog and human who joins our SkellyWags family.
I also wrote a book which will give you an insight into not only me, but the world of dog training too!

Understanding Why Puppies Bite: Causes and Solutions
You bring your adorable new puppy home, spend approximately 17 minutes falling completely in love with them, and then they sink their tiny razor-sharp teeth into your ankle. Welcome to puppyhood. One of the most common questions I get asked as a dog trainer is: “Why is my puppy biting so much?” The good news…

Why Do Dogs Get the Zoomies? Understanding FRAPs in Dogs
Have you ever watched your dog suddenly tear around the garden at top speed, ricochet off the sofa, perform three laps of the house and then collapse as if nothing happened? Congratulations. You have witnessed a Zoomie. While most of us call them zoomies, the scientific term is a FRAP – a Frenetic Random Activity…

Hot Weather and Dogs: Why Sometimes the Best Walk is No Walk at All
As dog guardians, many of us are conditioned to think that our dogs need a walk every day. But when the temperature starts to climb, it may be time to rethink what our dogs really need. At SkellyWags, dog welfare will always come first. Sometimes that means cancelling classes, changing plans or swapping a walk…

More Than Just a Field
When people visit SkellyWags for the first time, one of the comments I hear most often is: “You’re so lucky to have this.” And they’re right. But what many people don’t see is what came before. The field wasn’t always what it is today. The meadow wasn’t always full of pathways. There wasn’t always a…
About SkellyWags
Hi, I’m Mark, founder of SkellyWags
I’m a dog trainer with a pocket full of treats and a heart full of love for dogs especially one cheeky Collie named Bert, you may have heard of him.
I believe training should be fun, fair, and free from force or fear. That’s why I use positive reinforcement, kind and ethical training that helps dogs and their humans build brilliant bonds together through trust and care.
I’m passionate about helping people truly connect with their dogs whether we’re working in a group class, a one-to-one session, or even having a giggle in the garden with some scent games. Every dog and human duo is different, and I love finding ways to help each one thrive together.
Whether it’s teaching a recall, helping a nervous pup feel safe, or supporting new rescue owners to build trust. I’m all about creating training that feels joyful, stress free, and genuinely useful.
When I’m not working with clients, I’m usually found geeking out over dog behaviour, writing something silly about Bert’s latest antics, or dreaming up new ways to make training a treat for both ends of the lead and spending time with Bert.
If you’re ready to have fun, build a brilliant bond with your dog, and maybe laugh along the way you’re in the right place.
Here is a short book I wrote in 2024 and may give you an insight to the world of dog training and me.

It’s Alright Not to Be Alright
I don’t often write blogs like this. Usually I’m talking about dogs, scentwork, training, learning, or the latest thing Bert has decided is extremely important. But today I’d like to talk about something else. Over the last few weeks, I’ve felt a bit vulnerable. There. I said it. As humans, we often feel pressure to…
