A slightly different couple of weeks

Cancelled Class

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know the weather has had other ideas recently. Between the heat/humidity causing us to cancel and reschedule classes, workshops and 1-1’s etc, it’s certainly not been the summer I had planned!

From a business point of view it’s never ideal, but I’ve always believed there’s little point in fighting the things we can’t control. Instead, Bert and I have tried to make the most of the unexpected downtime.

Bert has, of course, been hard at work in his many important roles. Chief Treat Quality Control Officer, Head of Meadow Inspections, Professional Sofa Tester and Self Appointed Supervisor of absolutely everything I do. He’s yet to receive a complaint about his work ethic mainly because he’s asleep most of the time.

Whilst Bert has been keeping morale high, I’ve been putting the extra time to good use. The website has had a bit of attention, there are new blogs being added (including my recent SkellyWags Foundations), I’ve been studying, planning new ideas and looking at ways to make SkellyWags even better over the coming months. Sometimes being forced to slow down gives you the chance to look forwards rather than simply keeping up.

One thing I’ve been reminded of over these last few weeks is just how good dogs are at living in the moment. They don’t worry about the classes they missed or what next week’s forecast might bring. They simply enjoy today. It’s a lesson I think many of us could probably learn from.

Over the next week or so I’ll also be updating the What’s On page on the website with all of our autumn courses, workshops and events. There are some exciting things in the pipeline, so if you’ve been thinking about joining us for scentwork, life skills, hoopers or one of our workshops, keep an eye on the website as new dates will be appearing very soon.

Hopefully the weather will start behaving itself before too long and we’ll be back out in the meadow doing what we love most helping dogs and their humans build confidence, strengthen their relationship and enjoy learning together.

Thank you, as always, for being part of the SkellyWags journey. Whether you’ve trained with us before or you’re simply following along, we really do appreciate your support.

Until next time…

Mark & Bert
