Skellywags Dog Training will be hosting a series of talks over the coming months all centred at helping us humans with understanding why our dogs do some of the things they do.
Our first talk is “Are we letting our dogs be Dogs?” which is being held at the St Mary’s Arts Centre, Strand Street, Sandwich, Kent, CT13 9HN on the 28th August starting at 18.30.
Here is a little information about your speakers and what we will be covering during our interactive chat.
Sue Lefevre.
Has been working with dogs for over a decade now. During this time Sue has been involved in setting up the membership organisation International Canine Behaviourists and was a board member until 2002, became the Chair of the international organisation ICAN-International Companion Animal Network, collaborating with educators, trainers and behaviourists worldwide. This led to Sue being involved in the creation of the UK Dog Training and Behaviour Charter. Sue holds a level 6 qualification in animal behaviour management which she puts to good use working with The Dogenius Institute as their Internal Quality Assurer for their animal courses from Level 2 to Level 6.
Lorraine Godfrey.
Lorraine is a certified animal behaviourist based in Kent. She is a full member of International canine behaviourists (ICB) and Pet Professional Guild (PPG). She holds a Level 6 qualification in Applied Animal Behaviour. Lorraine has a vast range of knowledge that covers not only dog behaviour but also dog training having run a rescue for dogs for 17 years and her own dog grooming business for 15 years. Loraine is also a Reiki master, a stage 1 in equine qualification so I think it is fair to say she is certainly someone with a real passion for animals and learning.
”Don’t Worry, My Dog is Friendly” We’ll explore why this well-meaning phrase can sometimes lead to issues and how to handle interaction and look at it from a different view point.
Socialisation. Has following traditional socialisation advice caused more harm than good? Let’s discuss the impacts of doing what everyone told us.
Micromanaging: Are we over thinking and hanging their every move and stifling their natural behaviours?
Owner Embarrassment. Ever felt embarrassed by your dog’s behaviour? I think we have all been their, but should we worry about it?
You Are Your Dog’s Safety – Or Are You? Are you truly being the protector your dog needs? Are we being over protective? We’ll talk about what your dogs safety may or may not be.
This talk is perfect for anyone who wants to better understand their dog and create a more harmonious life together. Whether you’re a new dog owner or have years of experience, there’s something here for everyone.
The cost of the talk is £20.00, to book on contact us here.
